Someone I Never Expected to Meet

This summer I went to New York with all my friends. The first night we were there, we decided to go to a bar that had been recently inaugurated. My friend’s parents were the proprietors so we’d get everything for free.

As soon as we got there, I noticed a boy sitting in the bar alone, and drinking non-stop. I rapidly approached him in an affable manner because it seemed that I had already known him from some place.

He was so drunk when I started talking to him, that I quickly noticed he wasn’t the person I thought he was. It seemed as though it was despondent and that’s why he asked me to stay with him for just one hour. I did. The only thing I didn’t really like about him was that he digresses from topic to topic too fast. He first started telling me about his gruesome life in Pencey Prep, then about the excruciating details of his brother’s death, and finally, he started talking about how he rebuffed the prettiest girl in New York (which you could surmise wasn’t true because of the details he tried to fit in).

As time started to pass, it seemed as his disposition began to change he had a tremulous voice and seemed quite lackadaisical, as if he was going to cry. I didn’t want to leave him alone because I was profoundly sorry hen he talked about his turbulent childhood, but at the same time I was getting quite irascible since he always repeated himself. I kindly said bye and left, I couldn’t bare talking with him for one more second.
